Get your kids in the adventurous spirit this Easter holidays with Rock and Rapid Activity Week!

We know how hard it can be finding enjoyable and enriching activities for your children to do during the school break – and nobody wants their kids to spend a fortnight indoors. Instead, treat them to a whole range of exciting experiences, from coasteering and watersports to rock climbing – all here in beautiful North Devon.

For just £50 per person per day (or £40 per person per day if you book two or more days), your child can enjoy a day of unforgettable fun and exhilarating action.

Why should your child join our Activity Week?

It has been proven that outdoor activities have a wide range of benefits for children’s development and health. Time spent being active outside can enhance kids’ cognitive function, boost their mental wellbeing, and improve their physical fitness.

Our team activities are also a great way to build social skills and confidence in an engaging, effective way.

About our Activity Weeks in North Devon

Last summer, we ran a holiday club for children, and it was a roaring success. So, we decided that in 2019 we would bring the fun forwards with our Easter Activity Week. Children aged 7 and above can join us for this week of adrenaline-filled outdoor pursuits.

From Monday 15th to the Friday 19th of April, we will be running a range of adventure activities in the North Devon area. Each session is available to up to 14 people, and costs just £50 per person for the day.

Spaces are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, but if more than 14 people would like to book onto a session, they can do so providing they organise their own transport to and from the activity site.

For each session, we will meet at our climbing centre in South Molton at 9am, drive together to the activity site and return to the centre for 5pm.

Children will be required to wear appropriate clothing, plus a waterproof coat and warm jacket in case we get classic ‘Great British weather’! They will also need to bring along a packed lunch.

Each of our activities is led by qualified instructors, with extensive experience in facilitating fun, safe and educational outdoor sessions.

Coasteering at Croyde

Coasteering: it’s everything that your children usually aren’t allowed to do when they’re at the beach. Scaling giant rocks, scrambling around pools, diving into the sea and swimming in the icy waters. With a day of coasteering, your kids are sure to feel completely free.

On the Monday of Easter Activity Week, we take the kids coasteering on the beautifully rugged coastline of Croyde in North Devon. Coasteering gives kids a sense of adventure without any of the associated risk, as our expert instructors are professionally trained to ensure your children are safe at all times as they explore the rocky world of the coast.

This is the perfect adrenaline-fuelled activity for kids to let off steam and enjoy a day of excitement, whilst learning valuable new skills such as climbing, sea-level traversing and wild swimming.

For this activity, we recommend that participants bring old trainers or stiff-soled, close-toed shoes plus warm, old clothes that you don’t mind getting wet!

Rock climbing at Valley of the Rocks

On Tuesday, it’s time to head to the impressive landscape that is Valley of the Rocks for a spot of – you guessed it – rock climbing! Rock climbing is a true adventurer’s activity, so this is the perfect choice for your brave little explorer.

Kids feel unstoppable as they climb up the faces of Valley of the Rocks’ striking formations. At the top of the climb, they’re rewarded with a stunning view across the ocean, looking back onto nearby Lynmouth.

During this brilliant rock climbing session, your child will learn everything about the technical skills required to climb outdoors, as well as the safety procedures needed to stay safe, such as ropework and belaying. They will also enjoy some of the most scenic abseils in the South West!

If your child is already a member of one of our kids’ clubs, make sure they bring along their harness and climbing shoes. Otherwise, we can provide shoes, harnesses and helmets at no additional cost. Valley of the Rocks is often rather windy, so make sure to pack nice warm clothes, comfy closed-toe shoes and a waterproof coat in case of rain.

Watersports at Wimbleball Lake

Wednesday is watersports day! Today we head out to Wimbleball Lake in Exmoor National Park for a fun-filled day of water-based activities.

Your kids will love trying out their skills in kayaking, canoeing or rafting on this serene lake. Whether they are a complete beginner or have tried out these watersports before, your child will build their confidence and knowledge in paddling, safety, steering and more, to ultimately become self-sufficient on the water.

Please bring along old clothes that you don’t mind getting wet, plus a change of clothes and a warm, waterproof coat!

Climbing on Dartmoor

Dartmoor is world-famous when it comes to rock climbing, so what better way for your child to spend their Easter holiday than climbing on the moor itself? Your child will have an expedition experience of their own as they hike across Dartmoor National Park to reach a rocky outcrop on top of the hill ready to be climbed.

Here at Rock and Rapid, we have decades of experience rock climbing on Dartmoor, so we know all the best spots for beginners and young climbers. Our expert instructors will take the group to climb on one of the granite formations, where they can practice their climbing skills, belay in groups and learn everything there is to know about safe climbing with ropes. And the views from Dartmoor are pretty iconic, too.

Again, be sure to bring along a harness and climbing shoes if you have them, or let us know and we can provide them for you. Dartmoor is also prone to cold weather, so warm, windproof clothes and sturdy shoes are a must!

Good Friday Easter egg hunt

Perhaps your child wants to try out some new and exciting skills this Easter break, but doesn’t feel like venturing outdoors on a trip? Why not sign them up for our big Easter egg hunt instead?

On Friday 19th April, we are running four Easter egg hunt sessions for children aged 4 to 12. During these 1.5 hour sessions, kids will have the chance to try out our much-loved low ropes course, abseiling tower and indoor climbing wall in North Devon – collecting tokens along the way to trade in for an Easter egg at the end!

These sessions cost just £15 including the Easter egg, and are perfect for younger children or parents who prefer to spend the day with the kids.

To sign your child up for a week full of adventures this easter, BOOK NOW! If you would like any more information, feel free to contact us on 01769 309 003. We are open from 10am to 10pm on weekdays and 10am to 6pm on the weekends – and we would love to hear from you!
