COVID Guidelines for visiting Rock and Rapid Adventures

Rock and Rapid has now reopened and we want to provide you with clear guidance on the measures and precautions we are taking to protect our staff and customers and the safest advice for use of our facilities. When booking a session online please be aware that prices and times may differ from those previously advertised.

We are following the Government legislation and advice from our trade body, the ASSOCIATION OF BRITISH CLIMBING WALLS. The measures we have put in place may change as new advice and recommendations emerge.

We have followed the Government’s guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19 with the following steps:

Important!

All customers must read and understand

It should be recognised that while climbing walls will take all reasonable steps to prevent the transfer of COVID-19 to its staff and customers, there will always be a risk that an infected person visits the centre and either through droplet transfer, aerosol action or smear infection, transfers the virus to others. Our customers should be made aware of this and make their own decision given their specific circumstances whether this small residual risk is one they are willing to take. The residual risk should be no greater than in many other public spaces and facilities that are already open.

Please do not visit the climbing centre if you have any signs of COVID-19 or have been in contact with anyone with signs in the past 14 days

Here are our requirements and guidelines for visiting Rock and Rapid climbing center safely

Face Coverings

You must wear a face covering in all non climbing areas of the centre. You may remove your face covering if you are climbing if required; or if you are eating or drinking in our cafe. If you are exempt from wearing a face covering as per Government guidelines then please inform a member of staff on arrival. It is strongly advised that you wear your mask whilst climbing where possible and whilst belaying unless you feel your communication with your partner is hindered.

Social Distancing

Please keep to the government guidelines and maintain a 2m distance between you and all other climbers. It is all our responsibility to protect others around us by keeping the correct distance whilst continuing to enjoy our activities.

Track and Trace

Where possible please use the NHS Track and Trace QR Code when entering the centre. If you do not have access to the app and at any stage have symptoms or concerns please refer to NHS advice immediately.

Sanitising

When entering the building all customers are required to sanitise their hands. You may use your own, or the sanitiser provided. We recommend climbers wash their hands at the start and end of their session and wash and sanitise regularly throughout their climbing session. Sanitiser stations will be located at key points throughout the centre.

Ventilation

To ensure a constant flow of fresh air and to provide a good amount of ventilation we have the fire doors open, this may mean that it can feel a little chilly so bring some layers with you to wear.

Payments.

All sessions must be pre booked and paid for online, waivers can also be found online.

Contactless payments are preferred in the center however we do accept cash if necessary.

If you have a membership or voucher please contact the center so we can advise you on how to proceed.

Capacity

We have limited the capacity available on online sessions. 10 people per session in the climbing room and a maximum of 16 people in the bouldering room at one time, we ask you to book online so we can monitor the capacity within the center.

Entry

We ask you to arrive for your session on time, not too early as we require you to wait outside to be welcomed in by your instructor. This is an important protocol as the area has to be cleaned between each booked session. This is also the start of our one way system where you’ll find several hand sanitizing stations as you make your way through the center, you’ll be shown the exit by a member of staff.

Please note that if you are queuing outside before entering the center, you’ll need to maintain a 2 meter social distance.

Spectators

Due to capacity limitations we cannot allow spectators at present, with the exception for the pre-arranged kids club members.

Cafe

The Rock and Rapid Cafe is only open for those who are booked on to a session, providing drinks and snacks only, no hot food.

Equipment

We continue to provide equipment hire, all equipment is sanitized or quarantined as per the guidelines. Your instructor will show you where to dispense any hire equipment at the end of your session.

We request the use of liquid chalk instead of powdered chalk, which is also available to buy from reception.

Inexperienced Climbers

We are welcoming all climbers to the appropriate sessions available. If you are an independent climber and have completed a waiver you are able to book our member sessions. If you are new to the centre and want to become an independent climber inductions are available. If you’re unsure of which session to book please contact us directly.

Please remember that all businesses have been affected by the pandemic and everyone is doing their best to follow the procedures however if you feel we have missed something please do contact us and let us know.
