About Rock & Rapid
Rock and Rapid Adventures is the biggest rock climbing centre in North Devon. Based in South Molton, our climbing wall offers everything from top rope climbing and lead climbing to bouldering and dry tooling. As a leading adventure centre in North Devon, we also provide a wide range of outdoor activities, including high ropes, abseiling, outdoor climbing, and coasteering, as well as kayaking, raft building and more.
We are open from 10am-10pm on weekdays, and 10am-6pm on weekends. Our centre also has a cafe, group bunkhouse accommodation for parties and school residentials, an abseiling platform and outdoor low ropes.

At Rock and Rapid, we pride ourselves on making rock climbing accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. Our qualified climbing instructors facilitate development at all levels, whether you are a beginner wanting to learn to rock climb, or an experienced climber looking to focus on specific aspects of your technique. Beyond climbing, we also offer exciting outdoor activities such as watersports, archery, and axe throwing, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.
We offer rock climbing taster sessions for first-time climbers, climbing courses such as our Step Up to Lead course, and kids’ climbing clubs for ages 4 and upwards. Kids can develop their confidence and skills in everything from climbing and belaying to abseiling and bouldering with our NICAS-accredited youth climbing clubs.
Parties, groups and events
As one of the top attractions in North Devon, Rock and Rapid Adventures is a popular venue for all kinds of groups, special occasions and events.
Throughout the year, we host a number of school residential trips, with groups from across the country visiting us to experience a range of fun and educational outdoor activities in the South West. We also run regular group climbing sessions for schools and local organisations, catering to all ages, demographics and additional needs.
We are also popular as a birthday party venue in North Devon. During our parties, kids can enjoy climbing, low ropes and more, plus a tasty birthday lunch. For the adults, we provide unforgettable stag weekends and hen dos, perfect for adventurous types, where you and your friends can enjoy coasteering, climbing and more, and even spend the weekend in our Alpine hut-style bunkhouse!
Rock and Rapid is also available for various local events, from launches and corporate team building events to charity fundraisers and much more.

It’s not just climbing that we offer at Rock and Rapid Adventures! We run a range of outdoor activities in Devon and the surrounding areas. Feel the adrenaline rush of scrambling across rocks and jumping into the sea on our coasteering trips, or enjoy a day of watersports, learning to kayak or canoe on a serene lake. We even offer exciting rafting expeditions and outdoor rock climbing adventures, everywhere from Valley of the Rocks to Dartmoor National Park.

The story so far
Rock and Rapid Adventures was founded in 2007 by Keith Crockford. In June 2010, Rock and Rapid Adventures took over what was formerly The Mill Adventure Centre. Since then, the centre has grown to offer a wide selection of outdoor activities and climbing sessions, as well as hosting school residential trips and local events. In late 2019 we unveiled our brand new bouldering centre, making us the biggest climbing & now bouldering facility North Devon has to offer.

As a family of five who like to try new things, I can’t recommend this enough. The staff member who helped us was top class. Friendly, accommodating and keen. Although, we were all at different levels of experience, some of us complete notices at climbing – we all managed to spend an enjoyable couple of hours.
Really good day out and cater for all levels of ability. As complete beginners we were a bit nervous to begin with but soon got up to speed. Very good value for money.
To arrange a weekend that is a bit different and feels special is becoming harder to do so it was refreshing ti find somewhere that was happy to listen to our thoughts and ideas and let us run with them. Had a fantastic weekend that combined indoor climbing, raft building challenged and a monster design and build task to product a melon flinging catapult in a morning on a budget of £100. All in a really good time had by all with very relaxed and friendly staff. Would recommend for arranging those vents that are a bit more specialised.
I have been climbing here on and off for almost 4 years now. I keep coming back. This is by far one of the most friendly, helpful and safe climbing centres I have ever been to. The staff are constantly on guard for any mishaps and are very approachable with any and all concerns Especially talking through hypothetical situations and scenarios. Their knowledge is current and at the highest level. Definitely a place to go, and keep going.
I started climbing here about a year ago and love the atmosphere and people I meet. Ladies might, on a Monday which is run by Simmo has become a weekly must. (the coffee is pretty awesome too.) Great instruction is given on technique including safety) plus games are put together to improve climbing ability. I bring my nieces here and they love it. It’s exercise without feeling like you’re i a gym. I can’t recommend it enough!
We visited this whole on our holiday on a rainy day, my son enjoyed it so much he wanted to go back so we did. Twice! The staff are super friendly and very knowledgable. We will no doubt be back next year!
