So your child’s birthday is fast approaching, and they’re asking what they’ll be doing for their big birthday party. If your kid is more of an active type, you may be wondering how to give them a birthday party to remember.
Kids of all ages love our birthday parties at Rock and Rapid Adventures. We offer a range of exciting birthday activities, from rock climbing to coasteering. If you’re looking for birthday party ideas that are a little different and will also help your child and their friends build essential skills, keep reading for our top three suggestions for adventure birthday parties in Devon!
Climbing party for kids
For kids that are full of energy, rock climbing is the perfect activity for a birthday party. But don’t worry – you don’t have to hike to some unknown rock face in the middle of the North Devon countryside! With us, you can enjoy all of the comforts of an indoor kids’ party whilst the kids get their taste of adventure!
A climbing party is a fun way to get kids trying out a new activity and working together to develop new skills. We are one of the top birthday party venues in North Devon for adventurous kids, who love feeling the thrill of climbing high off the ground, learning all of the moves and techniques that it takes to become a climber. Kids will be able to climb on both the top ropes and in our bouldering cave under the expert supervision of our professional instructors.
Our birthday party package consists of a one and a half hour climbing session led by a dedicated instructor. Your group will be given all of the equipment and safety briefings, and spend 45 minutes learning to climb on our roped walls, followed by 45 minutes in our brand new bouldering centre.
This is a fantastic activity for a birthday party, as your guests will be able to bond, build trust and learn a new skill – all whilst having lots of fun! Our climbing birthday parties are just £15pp for groups of 6 or more.
After you have finished climbing, you can choose to have a buffet meal consisting of pizzas, chips, chicken nuggets and hot dogs for an additional £4pp including a free slush puppy!
If you’d like to bring a cake and decorations, you are more than welcome to do so – just arrive a little in advance to set it all up! Of course, if any of your group have any dietary requirements, just let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Birthday bouldering parties
We recently opened our brand new, state-of-the-art bouldering cave to the public, and it’s already proven to be a roaring success. Whether you’re looking for a kids’ birthday party or a party for adults, our bouldering centre is the perfect venue!
We offer private hire of the bouldering room from 6-8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays for any kind of celebration. The area is available for up to 20 people, with an hour and a half for climbing, followed by half an hour free if you choose to book a buffet meal on our balcony (additional £4pp).
During these bouldering parties, you can choose to spend 45 minutes learning to boulder with an instructor, playing climbing games and more, before having another 45 minutes free to climb. Alternatively, if you’re already a regular climber, you can simply have the walls all to yourself for a couple of hours!
Our bouldering centre private hire costs £200 for up to 20 people, with additional guests at £5pp.
Low ropes parties
If you opt for a two-hour party, your child and their friends will also have the opportunity to try out our outdoor low ropes course! As long as the weather is on our side, we will head out to the low ropes to climb, balance and swing our way through our leafy outdoor area.
From traversing across tyres to tiptoeing across ropes and swinging from ropes, this is an awesome experience for kids of any age to participate in. Low ropes are a brilliant group activity, as every child will cheer each other on, either playing individually or banding together for stimulating group challenges.
Whilst our expert instructors take care of the fun and madness, you can simply sit back with a coffee from our fantastic on-site cafe!
Coasteering birthday activities
When it comes to unique birthday party activities, it doesn’t get much more exciting than coasteering in Devon! Kids aged 12 and above will relish the opportunity to get out on the coast, scrambling, climbing and jumping in the waves.
Book in a birthday party group and you will be taken coasteering by one of our experienced multi-activity instructors. The kids will learn how to safely climb over rock pools, jump and swim in the water. Coasteering combines aspects of sea-level traversing, climbing and wild swimming, making it the perfect exhilarating activity for kids in search of a thrill!
